The question asks for a name, not a category.
If someone asks for a book’s title, “a book” is not enough. This exam question works similarly. The constitution is the Federal Republic’s fundamental legal text. Its established name is the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany.
“Federal Constitution” sounds convincing because Germany is a federation. It can be understandable as a description, but is not the name requested. Question 006 tests the name against general terms for laws. This question contrasts it with a constitutional description, a law book and a treaty.

The other three answers
All three wrong options belong to legal vocabulary. They still do not answer the question about the name.
Federal Constitution
The term can generally describe a constitution at federal level. The German constitution’s official name, however, is the Basic Law. The title is what matters here.
Law Book
A legal code organises provisions in a field of law, such as the Civil Code or Criminal Code. “Law Book” is not the German constitution’s name.
Constitutional Treaty
A treaty or contract is an agreement. “Constitutional Treaty” is not the title of the Basic Law; it is not what the Federal Republic calls its constitutional text.
Do not memorise only the option’s position.
Grundgesetz appears in a different position in question 006. Practice modes may also rearrange answers. Learn the term and its meaning, rather than “always A” or “always D”.
The name “Basic Law” does not make the text a mere preliminary document without constitutional force. It is the constitution in force. Article 146 describes its validity and possible replacement by a freely adopted new constitution; it does not change the answer to this question about its name.
Article 20 · Basic Law ↗Asked for the name? → Grundgesetz.
Constitution is the role. Grundgesetz is the specific name. Similar-sounding terms are not a better answer.
