What does this statistic count?
A Jewish community is an organised community. Its membership provides a specific statistical measure. It is not the same as the number of all Jewish people living in a city.
The Munich figure specifically concerns the Jewish Community of Munich and Upper Bavaria. A community’s geographical scope must therefore also be considered when comparing figures.

The other three answers
The other pairs of cities are not the answer sought.
Hamburg and Essen
Hamburg and Essen have Jewish communities but are not the largest pair in the membership statistics used here.
Nuremberg and Stuttgart
Nuremberg and Stuttgart are not the pair sought. A regional community label must also not be read uncritically as one city’s population count.
Worms and Speyer
The question asks for the largest present-day communities. A familiar historical place name alone does not establish current membership size; Worms and Speyer are incorrect here.
The year and counting unit are part of the claim.
The figures apply to 31 December 2025, not to a live daily count. Membership can change. This dated explanation must be distinguished from the fixed answer in the existing question bank.
A state association may combine several communities and is therefore not an individual city figure. Neither these totals nor a person’s appearance establishes an individual’s membership or beliefs.
