Distinguish a name from a political description.
Adjectives such as free, peaceful or leading may appear in political texts. For this abbreviation, however, the established name matters. Only “Freie Demokratische Partei” fits.
As in CDU, D stands for “Demokratische”. Unlike SPD, FDP does not end in “Deutschlands”. Comparing the names helps avoid mixing up similar abbreviations.

The other three answers
Small changes to the words make the alternatives incorrect.
Peaceful Demonstrative Party
“Friedliche Demonstrative Partei” replaces two parts of the name. The words are Freie and Demokratische.
Free Germany Party
“Deutschland” is not the middle word. D in FDP stands for Demokratische.
Leading Democratic Party
“Führende” is not the F in the official name. The first word is Freie.
The party name does not depend on one parliamentary term.
A party and a Bundestag parliamentary group are different things. Whether a party is currently represented in the Bundestag does not automatically change its name or abbreviation.
This explanation neutrally matches letters to words. It makes no statement about which party anyone should vote for.
