Learn the full name and the idea behind it.
The EU is a political and economic union of European countries. At the time reviewed, it has 27 member countries. They cooperate through shared institutions while remaining identifiable as member states. Germany is one of them.
In this context, “union” means a grouping joined together. It does not mean that everyone speaks alike, holds the same opinions or makes identical decisions everywhere. The EU expressly works with multiple official languages and different national traditions.

The other three answers
All the suggested answers resemble the initials in some way. Only one is the actual name.
European Enterprises
“European Enterprises” refers to companies from Europe. Businesses may be affected by shared European rules, but this is not what EU stands for.
Unified Union
“Unified Union” is not the name. The E stands for “European”. Cooperation also does not require every difference between member states to disappear.
Euro Union
“Euro Union” confuses the name with the currency. Not all EU countries use the euro, so the euro area does not describe the whole EU.
Europe, the EU, the euro area and Schengen are different terms.
Europe is the broader geographical term. Not every European country is an EU member; Switzerland is one example. When a news item refers to “Europe”, check which countries or institutions it actually means.
The euro area refers to the EU countries sharing the euro currency. Schengen concerns, among other things, checks at shared borders. Both relate to European cooperation, but neither expands the abbreviation EU.
Name and cooperation · European Union ↗EU = European Union; the euro is a separate, related question.
Say both words in full. Then identify whether the topic is the union, currency or travel rules.
