Required participation is part of attending school.
The question tests a duty in everyday school life. It does not ask which subject is most enjoyable. Even where some options are available, a child cannot freely choose to attend only the lessons they want.
School law is regulated by the federal states. For example, section 43 of North Rhine-Westphalia’s School Act requires regular attendance at lessons and compulsory events. Practical arrangements and absence procedures therefore need to be checked with the relevant school and under state law.

The other three answers
The other answers confuse participation with leisure, subject choice or money.
the right to unlimited free time.
Free time is not unlimited. Lesson times and compulsory events have to be respected.
freedom of choice for all subjects.
Choices in particular areas do not mean unrestricted choice of every subject and lesson.
entitlement to tuition fees.
“Schulgeld” means tuition fees, not a general cash benefit a child earns by attending school. The question concerns compulsory attendance.
Compulsory attendance does not mean attendance at any cost.
Illness can prevent attendance. In the NRW example, parents must then promptly inform the school and provide the reason. Important reasons may also allow authorised leave or exemptions under the applicable rules.
This guide does not specify a nationwide medical-certificate deadline or a general permission to extend holidays. Rules for justified absence qualify the short exam answer without removing the attendance duty.
Section 43 · Participation in lessons · NRW School Act · State example ↗School: attend regularly and handle absences correctly.
Choose “compulsory attendance”. Also remember that justified absence follows a defined procedure.
