Counting colours and counting stripes are different tasks.
The test answer summarises the distinct colours, so it is not a complete construction guide for the flag. Another white stripe lies between the yellow and red stripes. Seeing five stripes therefore does not mean finding a fifth colour.
The state-symbol law specifies ultramarine blue and vermilion red. The ordinary colour names are enough to select the test answer. The combination brings together the traditional colours of Mecklenburg and Vorpommern.

The other three answers
The answer must include all four state colours.
black-red-gold
Black-red-gold are the colours of Germany’s federal flag. This question asks about Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s state flag.
green-white-red
Green-white-red includes green and omits blue and yellow, so it does not match the state colours.
black-yellow
Black-yellow names only two colours. Black is also not one of the four state colours asked for here.
Distinguish the state flag from the service flag.
The state service flag additionally carries the bull’s head and griffin without shields. The yellow stripe is interrupted for this purpose. These extra motifs do not change the colour combination required by the question.
State colours are not simply every colour found in a coat of arms. A black bull’s head in the emblem does not make black an additional state colour. Our AI images show loose colour materials, rather than an authoritative flag drawing.
