Look for the combination of three fields.
From your viewpoint, a white wavy band lies on green at the left. A white horse leaps on a red background at the right. A small red rose appears on a white area below. The three features together identify the required coat of arms.
The official heraldic description uses the viewpoint of someone carrying the shield. Its left and right can therefore differ from those of a person looking at the image. For the exercise, find the river, horse and rose within the same shield.

The other three answers
The other shields contain clearly different motifs.
1
Image 1 shows a pale key on red beneath a gold crown. It lacks the combination of river, horse and rose.
3
Image 3 contains black-and-gold stripes, a green band and a bear on a wall below. It is not NRW’s three-part shield.
4
Image 4 shows three black lions on gold beneath a crown. Three animals are different from the three distinct motifs in NRW’s coat of arms.
The question graphic is the image to identify.
The editorial study illustrations do not redraw the official emblem. The unchanged catalogue image appears separately beside the quiz. Number 2 refers only to that particular image order.
The coat of arms, state flag and public NRW emblem are different forms. The state flag has three horizontal stripes: green, white and red. An arbitrary red or green symbol alone does not reliably identify the state.
