Understanding and forming your own judgement.
The LpB describes itself as impartial and non-partisan. It is not a party campaign office. Publications, events and a library offer ways to explore political topics and learn about the state.
Its work also includes educational programmes at the Osthofen and Hinzert memorial sites. Examining Nazi persecution is therefore part of civic education. Such programmes teach history and encourage reflection on democracy and human rights.

The other three answers
Other institutions have different main responsibilities.
at the churches
Churches can discuss political and social questions. The state institution with the general civic-education mission sought here is the Landeszentrale.
at the consumer advice center
The consumer advice centre helps with consumer matters, such as contracts and products. This is different from the LpB’s general civic-education work.
at the municipal regulatory office
The municipal regulatory office handles local regulatory and administrative matters. It is not a state agency for civic education.
A useful starting point is not an information monopoly.
Media, universities, associations and other public bodies can also provide political information. Among the four options, this multiple-choice question seeks the institution whose explicit mission is civic education.
Non-partisan does not mean that every question has only one viewpoint. Check a claim’s source, date and reasoning. The LpB’s advisory board is tasked with safeguarding political balance in its work.
